19th of July 2011 – Visit to the ministry of ELI and Finances for application Natuurschoonwet.

After the purchase of the first part of the land, the 5.5 hectares starting at the Roodseweg, we filed an application with the Dienst Regelingen of the ministry of economics, agriculture and innovation for the designation as estate under the Natuurschoonwet. Before the purchase of the land it turned out that we needed to file this application now because the National government recognises an estate of 5 hectares or larger. For the county of Geldermalsen however, this needs to be 7.5 hectares. Two associates of the ministry came to visit us and we showed them around the land for our estate. Unofficially they already confirmed the designation of the land as estate.

On a nice summer day we were both interviewed by a young freelance reporter, Joris, for the newspaper Nieuwsblad Geldermalsen. Along with a picture of us at the first tree for our estate the article was placed in the paper. Afterwards we recieved compliments from various friends as well as strangers about our vision on the care industry and several people even sent in applications to either live or work at the estate once it is finished.

3rd of October 2011 – 8th Prinsjesdag Zuid-Holland zuid in Dordrecht.

We participate every year in the Prinsjesdag of Zuid-Holland zuid which is organised by Zorgbelang. The afternoon was filled with interesting topics about the near future of healthcare and the possibilities and limitations of new technologies. One of the questions was if we would be able to solve the shortage of healthcare professionals through the use of robots in the future. The conclusion most people came to was that this would be possible for home maintenance, but that person to person contact is and will remain indispensible for every healthcare patient.

After the informational meeting in may, 11 objectors stepped up who place questionmarks with the plans for a care estate in their town. We had a discussion with the 3 representatives in which the chairman of our supervisory board is also present. The discussion, which proceeds amicably, brings forth questions and concerns which we adress. Unfortunately we were unable to come any closer together, because our views on policy frameworks and the attainablity of the project differ too greatly. This was a very remarkable situation, since we have encountered no negative remarks or hints at impossibilities, from any of the people or branches of government we approached in the 2.5 years we have been working on this project.

17th of October 2011 – 2nd deliberation with population of Rumpt.

This evening we have a second deliberation, in which 4 out of the 7 participants were unfortunately unable to attend due to their vacation plans. In the previous deliberation topics came up that have been adressed today such as: the petting zoo, commitment of other target employees, continuity care estate, estate goals and we gave a reaction on our discussion with the 3 representatives of the 11 objectors from Rumpt. The next deliberation is planned after the mayor and aldermen announce the next step of the progress in the process of city planning.

In the first week of November the designation of estate, by the ministry of Economics, Agriculture and Innovation and the state secretary of finances for the first 5.5 hectares, we purchased in May of 2011 in Rumpt becomes official. The procedure for this was started when we purchased the land and has been reviewed by 2 civil servants who were pleasantly surprised by our plans and complimented us for our initiative. Unofficially they already stated that the designation as estate would be no problem and that we would recieve written confirmation in approximately 3 months.

25th of October 2011 – Disposition AWBZ.

Again wonderful news! In the first days of november we will recieve our admission to the AWBZ from the ministry of VWS for the Small-scale living for 30 psychogeriatric patients. This enables us to give form to our focus point of placing no financial thresholds for our patients. Thanks to the signature of the Zorgkantoor of Nijmegen with our application for admission he disposition has been processed in under 6 weeks.

15th of November 2011 – Careconference domotica in Weesp.

Syntens organises a yearly inspirationday which is being held today in a care center in Weesp. We were pleasantly surprised by an inspiring speaker, Coen van Veenendaal, who captures us for 90 minutes with his initiative for Alp ‘d Huez and Inspire2live. Coen mentions 6 factors of success, which made us think "which one would we be missing?". Surprisingly it turned out we had all 6. We use all the same factors of success he mentions to realise our goal, a feast of recognition! Our thanks to Coen who pointed this out for us. And stubborn as we are, we added a 7th factor of our own.

28th of November 2011 – Supervisory board meeting.

On November 28th we have the third meeting of 2011 with our supervisory board. The provincial government has asked us to participate in creating one of these workshops which focuses on "Counties, residential corporations, care providers: Embrace the entrepreneurial initiative". With great enthusiasm we accepted this invitation and presented our estate, after which we recieved much praise from the audience for our project plans. Even weeks and months later people return to us with questions for more information.

14th of December 2011 – Deliberation with 2 members of VBL.

After our deliberation with the foundation of preservation of the Linge Landscape (VBL) we have a second deliberation with 2 members of the VBL. Unfortunately a third member had to cancel due to sickness. Before hand the chairman of the foundation had let us know he wished to be personally involved in projects in order to give advice. The foundation rarely takes a pro or con position for any project. The deliberation with the 2 gentlemen proceeds quite amicably and we benefit from their great expertise. The suggestions we recieved connect very well with our vision of how the estate is supposed to merge into the landscape and we pass these along to our landscape architects.

21st of December 2011 – Conclusion Networkmeeting Small-scale Living.

On December 21st there is a conclusion by the province Utrecht and Gelderland of the Small-scale living and longer at home if possible projects. The goal is to stimulate more and higher quality small-scale living healthcare communities through mutual co-operation.
